The Wellesley College Endowment had a market value of $3.1 billion as of the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024. The investment of the endowment is managed by the College’s Investment Office, located on the College campus in Wellesley, MA.
Position Summary
The Investment Operations Analyst role is a full-time position open to individuals with 2-3 years of relevant experience. The role is hybrid with three days in the office, two days remote. The Investment Operations Analyst is an integral member of the investment operations team, will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will interact regularly with other members of the investment office.
Specific portfolio administration and operational duties include but are not limited to:
Cash Management and Reconciliation:
Prepare and review bank instructions for cash movements.
Monitor and reconcile cash flow activity.
Prepare cash flow projections and analysis of cash needs.
Data Management:
Maintain portfolio management systems for the private portfolio.
Maintain liquidity management system.
Develop reporting using custodian systems and other systems.
Work with various vendor teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain data quality.
Prepare monthly portfolio performance reports.
Reconcile portfolio activity between data systems and the custodian.
Monitor investment manager communications; gather, review, and input relevant data into systems
Financial Reporting and Portfolio Analysis:
Prepare portfolio reporting for quarterly investment committee meetings.
Maintain portfolio benchmark data and share with performance reporting providers
Support the audit process and other regulatory filings
Includes preparing and reviewing audit confirmations, audit work papers and supporting schedules; prepare summary financial statement schedules.
Support tax compliance
Review partnership tax documents (K1’s, etc.) to extract relevant information for tax filing purposes
Work with external audit and tax partners as needed
Manager Diligence, Legal and Other:
Complete subscription, amendment and side letter agreements.
Prepare regular survey responses to outside organizations.
Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as-assigned.
Qualifications
The Investment Operations Analyst should demonstrate the desire to learn and grow as an investment operation professional, be able to evaluate and resolve operational issues and keep up to date on the latest market news, industry practices and technology applications.
Core qualifications/requirements:
Commitment to the College’s articulated mission and core values
2-3 years of relevant experience in investment operations at an endowment, foundation, or investment management firm required
Prior experience working with custodians and custodial systems, data, and reporting required
Prior experience maintaining portfolio management systems
Competence in MS Office software including Excel, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint
Relevant experience with the following applications a plus.
BNY Mellon, Burgiss, CAISSA/Total Plan, Canoe
Prior experience supporting the audit process at an investment manager or endowment office a plus
Experience with performance calculation concepts and the standards for presenting performance information a plus
Accountable, hardworking and detail-oriented
An ability to work effectively in a small, collegial, high-performing team
Strong organizational skills
Initiative and willingness to learn
Willingness to learn new proficiencies to accommodate evolving technologies
Demonstrated desire to be part of a collaborative, problem-solving team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
