Work Style: Hybrid - work in office 2-3 days a week. 

LaSalle Investment Management (LaSalle), Jones Lang LaSalle’s multinational real estate investment management company, is seeking a Risk Manager to join its global team. The position reports to the LaSalle Global Director of Risk Management.

The position is located in Chicago; some travel required, primarily in the U.S. The position will provide insurance and risk management advice and support to LaSalle in the Americas and will coordinate with the other LaSalle and Jones Lang Lasalle risk management personnel.

General Requirements

• Understand real estate operations and related insurance and risk management practices.
• Excellent communication skills: draft directives, effectively explain technical insurance issues, prepare memos, and reports for a senior audience.
• Ability to analyze relevant parts of lender / legal agreements and advise insurance requirements with attorneys, asset managers, clients, and business partners.
• Lead and bolster working relationships with brokers, insurers, vendors, internal and external clients.
• Ad hoc projects, i.e., RMIS development, risk assessments (climate change), risk modelling, other
• Flexibility regarding assignments and schedule, with the expectation on average three days in the office, either LaSalle or JLL Chicago offices
• Familiarity with and working knowledge of enterprise risk management processes.

Special Skills

• Subject matter expertise in sophisticated insurance structures and terms/conditions. Strong interpersonal skills; able to interface with all levels of the organization.
• General knowledge of legal and compliance; experience in working directly with legal counsel
• Administrative and organizational skills critical; excellent time management skills, flexibility, and management of a variety of tasks simultaneously

Job Tasks

• Continue work to develop working guidelines for Asset Management, Legal and other internal parties as a contract decision making guide. Instructive as to when insurance provisions are acceptable, or when provisions deviate from standard and are vital to escalate for different risk treatment.
• Negotiation of insurance and risk provisions of client and corporate business contracts
• Establish a developed process for the strategy of insurances purchasing for client and fund properties including appropriate contractual terms with clients.
• Coordinate the insurance placements involving global coverages, across businesses/regions (most notably professional liability)
• Work with other LaSalle risk managers and JLL Risk Management colleagues to support corporate insurance issues; share standard methodologies; special project collaboration.
• Assist in maintaining and running business/regional data for corporate programs.
• Develop and update regional insurance and risk management manuals and templates; Analyze and assess regional claim and loss information,
• Assist with identifying and implementing risk management practices for the Firm and its businesses and functions i.e., Business Continuity Management, Emergency Response, Enterprise Risk Management, ESG, Sustainability.
• Provide support and participate in the Enterprise Risk Management process; represent Risk Management on the Americas ERM committee.
• Lead position for LaSalle on development and implementation of the shared RMIS platforms with JLL

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a professional qualification in insurance or risk management is desired.

Eight to ten years of general insurance proven experience, where contractual risk management has been a responsibility.
