Overall Responsibility: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role is integral and vital to the success of the hospital. The dedication, critical thinking skills, analytical skills, and understanding of regulatory and accounting standards by the CFO uphold the integrity of the financial and compliance reporting. The CFO must have an in-depth understanding of these functions, along with the ability to analyze and interpret statistics and other data in order to meet the high standards of OCOM. This position will be the supervisor of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) & Business Office Manager (BOM) and help oversee the departments that they manage.
OCOM is a dynamic and responsive environment which requires the CFO to be very hands-on. The CFO is also much more visible in this type of environment and needs to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate developing the people they worked with in the past.

Key tasks and responsibilities (essential functions)
Leadership & Staff Development
Member of the Senior Leadership Team
Responsible for being a positive example and champion for all aspects of OCOM's cultural development program.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills with all of our customers - our patients, our physicians and our staff.
Assists in recruiting and selecting team members. Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
Serves as liaison and resource for the Department managers and Administration concerning financial issues.
Prioritizes financial and business office goals.
Financial Management & Planning
Financial Planning, Reporting and Budgeting
Assists in setting department goals with the emphasis on requirements, returns and rewards.
Recommends appropriate strategies and actions in response to economic trends and regulatory changes.
Participates in the facility's long-term and short-term financial planning.
Analyzes financial statements, including a review to detect errors and misstatements.
Provides guidance and support in preparing and analyzing financial reports.
Prepares annual hospital budget, including capital budget. Accountable for budget development and implementation.
Reports financial and operation indicators and results to physicians and staff. Creates financial reports, shares information at MEC, Board of Managers and with Department Managers.
Performs financial forecasting.
Coordinate preparation for external and internal audits.
Perform other duties as requested by the Chief Executive Officer &/or RVP.
Medicare Cost Report
The report is compiled by an outside accounting firm.
The CFO manages the data request for the Medicare Cost Report and works with the accounting firm to complete the Cost Report.
Capital Management
Actively works with USPI to review and negotiate sources of financing for capital equipment and expansion projects.
Tracks capital and expansion projects to ensure all dollars are accounted for, that financing deadlines are met and that budget is met.
Cash Management
Assists the RVP to direct the facility's bank in executing cash management decisions.
Assists the RVP to coordinate and control the facility's cash and investment management activities.
Analysis Activities
Performs Bad Debt analysis and implements containment processes.
Reviews case costs versus reimbursement.
Analyzes potential impact of changes in payer and case mix, procedures or supplies.
Reviews and interprets audit findings and trends.
Analyzes staffing trends.
Analyzes and projects case volume trends.
Compliance
Directs and participates in the development and implementation of accounting, admission, credit/collection and internal audit controls.
Directs fraud prevention and detection activities.
Enforces compliance with internal and external controls and policies.
Ensures continuous preparation for internal and external audits, including State and Medicare audits.

Required Skills:
Licensure and Certification:
Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
Masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Health Care Administration preferred.
Required Experience:
Experience required:
Minimum 5 years in a hospital financial management capacity.
Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in managing and developing their staff.
