CONTROLLER, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to be responsible for the financial management and stewardship of approximately $2.6B in annual expenditures and ensuring MIT's accounting procedures conform to GAAP. As a critical member of MIT's financial leadership team, will oversee the preparation of the annual treasurer's report, financial audits, and quarterly financial reporting; oversee five direct reports and a staff of approximately 50; provide strategic leadership of accounts receivable, financial accounting and reporting, global operations, property office, sponsored accounting, and tax and support the effective management and control of fiscal resources and ensure that MT achieves its operational and financial objectives; foster/maintain relationships with and provide fiscal analysis/support to MIT departments/labs/centers; report on MIT's international engagements; and collaborate with MIT Investment Management Company to understand and reflect investments within MIT's financial statements.
REQUIRED: master's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; certified public accountant (CPA); ten years' direct, relevant experience in financial management positions where prime responsibilities included leading and managing successful teams, goal-setting, planning, prioritizing, implementing, and problem-solving; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations, including those specific to research/nonprofit organizations; experience designing and implementing complex financial information systems, processes, and process enhancements and establishing and maintaining a strong control environment; excellent management, interpersonal, writing, presentation, analytical, project management, problem-solving, organizational, consultative, team-building, and leadership skills; supervisory experience; experience with accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and establishing strong financial controls; and ability to drive and manage multiple priorities/projects and collaborate with project teams across MIT to ensure the timely completion of project deliverables.
