Federated Hermes Internship Program provides students the opportunity to gain “hands on” experience and develop professional skills as well as the ability to network with talented professionals and gain insight into career possibilities within the asset management industry. The program includes a variety of events designed to enhance the internship experience, provide participants with information about Federated Hermes and foster collaboration among their cohort.
Purpose of the Internship:
The purpose of this position is to train the intern in the support of Federated Hermes internal and external sales teams, marketing teams and designated clients with accurate mutual fund, variable annuity, and stable value performance comparisons and trend analyses of Federated products versus applicable competitor funds and products. Secondarily, based on this analysis, the position will serve to identify new and cogent sales ideas and communicate them along with product trends in the industry to enhance selling opportunities of Federated products. May periodically assist with ad hoc projects related to Third Party Consultant databases and Proposal team efforts.
Major Duties:
- On an as-requested basis, provide sales teams, marketing teams, clients, customer service teams and management with timely, accurate analysis and comparisons of Federated and competitor mutual funds, variable annuities, and stable value funds; develop and apply expertise in various computer programs, including but not limited to Morningstar Direct, Lipper LANA, Bloomberg, Factset, iMoneyNet, SalesForce, FINDERS Analytics and Microsoft Excel.
- Provide sales teams, marketing teams, clients, customer service teams, and management with pertinent and up-to-date fund, systems and operational information in a timely manner in an effort to improve service and sales.
- Develop, maintain and distribute standing performance and competitive comparison reports.
- Research and coordinate in conjunction with the marketing teams and management, more effective and/or efficient ways to present fund related information to internal and external clients.
- Interact with Compliance personnel on a regular basis to ensure that reports and analyses adhere to applicable standards.
- Solicit and communicate to sales teams and management feedback relating to new product and service ideas and relevant conclusions and insights from fund comparison activities.
- Assist the division including the marketing teams with the completion of special projects.
Hours/location:
- 12-15 hours a week during the school year in the Fall 2022 and Spring of 2023, and full-time hours the summer of 2023 (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the summer)

Position Specifications:
- Pursuing a degree with a concentration in Business, Finance, Marketing, Management Information Systems or equivalent required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel (including pivot tables) required; MS Teams, and PowerPoint preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Python, R preferred
- Knowledge of investment industry and mutual fund terminology preferred
- Experience with databases and large data querying preferred
