Federated Hermes Internship Program provides students the opportunity to gain “hands on” experience and develop professional skills as well as the ability to network with talented professionals and gain insight into career possibilities within the asset management industry. The program includes a variety of events designed to enhance the internship experience, provide participants with information about Federated Hermes and foster collaboration among their cohort.
Purpose of the Internship:
The purpose of this position is to provide operational support to trading and portfolio management for all accounts over which the Separately Managed Accounts (“SMA”) group has discretion. The school year intern will have knowledge of all basic functions performed in SMA Operations including new account initialization, trade support, and reconciliation.
Major Duties:
- Review and process new account documents for completeness and accuracy
- Set up new accounts on both the Invest Cloud APL and the Vestmark portfolio accounting systems
- Process withdrawal, deposit, and termination requests from sponsors.
- Accurately file paperwork related to account maintenance into the Docstar system.
- Assist staff with random maintenance items such as researching individual account reconciliation issues and updating various fields on portfolio accounting
Hours/location:
- 15 hours a week during the school year in the Fall 2022 and Spring of 2023, and full-time hours the summer of 2023 (7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the summer)
- Preferred start time between 6:30a.m. – 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Position Specifications:
- Pursuing a degree with a concentration in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel required
- Knowledge of investment industry and mutual funds preferred
