We are seeking an Investment Director to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. Working in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon's Chief Investment Officer and other team members, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping to manage the investment portfolio.
The Director's responsibilities will include:
- Discover, source, evaluate, underwrite, and monitor investment funds across various strategies, with existing managers and managers representing new university relationships.
- Conduct extensive investment manager due diligence, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Prepare presentations for the university's senior administration and for Investment Committee (IC) quarterly update meetings.
- Provide investment insights and actively participate in manager vetting processes and Investment Office discussions.
- Represent the Investment Office in meetings with external managers and other third parties.
- Manage the creation of systems and models for monitoring the overall investment portfolio as well as individual existing and prospective investment managers.
- Memorialize meeting and other notes through active use of office CRM.
- Prepare memoranda detailing investment recommendations to the IC.
- Train, supervise, and mentor junior staff members and work to promote collegial, respectful, and professional culture.

The Director will be expected to travel both domestically and abroad, principally to meet with the university's current and prospective external investment managers to learn about their firms and strategies and perform due diligence.
Due to the nature of the work and underlying mission, occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Chartered Financial Analyst certification (CFA) preferred, but not required
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge of portfolio management and investment management, relevant market issues, and statistical concepts, methods and models (including application).
