Overview:
Capital Group is recruiting for an experienced Technology & Cybersecurity Associate Counsel to support Chief Information Officer (“CIO”), Chief Information Security Officer (“CISO”) and other IT executives. This is a new opportunity in a prestigious legal department at one of the largest asset managers in the world. Capital Group is an evolving business in a highly regulated environment; this position is involved in guiding decisions that will make a major impact on the business.
The Legal team is comprised of 29 attorneys, with 22 in the US. It is a highly collaborative group, and the candidate will work closely with the CIO, CISO, and SVP of the Legal team.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience, including a base salary, cash bonus, and outstanding benefits.

Experience and Qualifications: The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of experience at a top ranked law firm and/or in-house. Candidates must have global experience with information security, data privacy, and cyber risks. Exceptional academic credentials, JD degree and admittance to the bar.

Position Information
Capital Group is seeking an attorney who is a self-starter to join its team and be energized by the opportunity to work on global IT and cyber matters.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
The Technology & Cybersecurity Associate Counsel will be responsible for achieving the following goals:
· Advise on information technology, outsourcing and/or privacy and data protection matters (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing social media terms), transactional (negotiating sourcing, shared services, or information technology agreements), and/or crisis management (responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General). Monitor legal risks related to IT activities, processes and projects, and provide guidance on the acceptable assumption of risk.
· Experience with international copyright, privacy, on-line advertising and other digital legal issues.
· Advise on compliance with regulatory requirements relating to IT activities (e.g., records retention, cyber, and privacy).
· Advise supply chain and enterprise business services leadership on strategic and operational issues relating to suppliers, including the negotiation, and drafting of complex supplier agreements.
· Partner with internal clients, participate in governance committees and attend business meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
· At least 7 years of experience at a top ranked law firm or in-house.
· Asset management, banking or financial services experience preferred.
· IT and supply chain experience.
· Cyber and privacy law experience.
· Experience with RFI’s for major technology vendors.
· Exceptional academic credentials.
· JD degree with strong academic background.
· Current bar membership.
· Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.
· Ability to balance legal risks with business objectives and solutions.
