The Real Estate Associate will support all real estate investment and development activities for our Client. This role will assist with acquisitions, investment management and capital raising through underwriting, financial modeling, investment memos, presentations, and market research.
The Real Estate Associate will liaise with our Client’s partners, investors, and lenders to ensure investment analysis, management, and reporting are consistent with quality expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Review potential investments – perform the ‘first look’ summary and assessment of new investment opportunities (key assumptions, market, sponsor, etc.)
- Modeling – create internal models, review models from operating partners and periodically reforecast models for existing investments
- Investment memos – draft initial versions and review versions from partners
- Investment reporting – review quarterly reports (asset management and financials) from operating partners and draft summary reports to Company investors (standalone investments)
- Due diligence – organize and coordinate due diligence for Company, lenders, and investment partners
- Capital raise – draft presentations and track database of investor relationships
- Market knowledge – monitor cap rates, financing, and industry trends (focus on multifamily, student housing and industrial)
- Deal tracking – monitoring key dates for earnest money, due diligence and closing
- Perform other tasks as required
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in finance, real estate, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in commercial real estate
- Expertise in financial modeling in Excel; proficiency in Argus is a plus
- Current knowledge of the commercial real estate market, best practices, and trends
- Proficiency in real estate financial analysis
- Detail oriented
- Strong communication and writing skills
