Basic Functions:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the University endowment and other investments. Provide leadership in the continued enhancement of investment portfolio. Recruit, train, and mentor investment analysts. Responsibilities of a generalist, with lead responsibilities for select private subasset classes. Key role in sourcing and conducting due diligence. Preparing and presenting investment analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
Sourcing and maintaining a robust and creative pipeline of investment opportunities for the University's investment portfolio
Conducting due diligence on prospective opportunities, including analysis of investment strategy, process, organization, portfolio positions, and performance
Monitoring and evaluating portfolio positions, organizational changes, performance, and risks of the invested fund managers
Completing analytical reviews of managers, strategies, and asset classes
Researching investment and industry trends and opportunistic investment projects as they arise
Staying abreast of market conditions and developments that may affect Denison's investments and acting proactively and appropriately to protect those interests
Recommending investment manager hiring, termination, and capital allocation decisions
Maintaining a network with the outside investment community to expand office knowledge regarding investment opportunities
Communicating and presenting effectively to the investment team, Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees, the University President, and other relevant stakeholders
Representing Denison University as a leader in the local community and among the broader Denison community
Extensive domestic and international travel to meet with investment managers is integral to the role. All travel is subject to our business travel guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience managing investments across a broad range of asset classes within a high-performing organization, including endowments, foundations, family offices, private investment firms and other asset management firms
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA and/or CFA preferred.
- Significant experience working on both marketable and private asset portfolios with demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills
- A broad understanding of portfolio theory, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and economics
- A proven investment track record through complete market cycle(s) and commitment to achieving excellence in investment performance
- Sound investment judgment and risk management skills
- Ability to incorporate rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses in the evaluation of investment strategies, processes, organizations, and teams and ability to think creatively and independently when exploring investment themes and off-the-run strategies
- Ability to access an independent network for manager sourcing and evaluation and due diligence purposes
- Ability to further establish Denison University as a desired investor to top-tier investment managers
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including investment and administrative staff, Investment Committee members, and the University community
- Previous supervisory and leadership experience leading, coaching, mentoring associates preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Results- and performance-oriented, but comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment; flexible and willing to receive feedback
- Possessing the highest level of integrity, honesty, and sense of fiduciary duty
- Self-confident while remaining modest and kind
