The Business Development Associate is responsible for assisting in the origination of debt investments in commercial real estate with a focus on construction financing. Twain’s specialty finance products include ground lease capital, commercial property assessed clean energy (C-PACE) lending, and Historic Tax Credit (HTC) equity. As an integral member of Twain’s investments team, the Business Development Associate will work closely with the Vice President of Business Development and third-party professionals to successfully develop a strong pipeline of new business and investment opportunities. This full-time position is located on the west coast and will require approximately 15-25% travel.
Identify and develop strategic relationships with real estate developers, brokers, and third-party professionals
Prepare and negotiate project-level term sheets
Assist with initial project review, underwriting, and closing matters
Review statutes and program guidelines to identify new markets
Regularly coordinate with internal underwriting, project management, and asset management teams
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, real estate, or finance
2-5 years of relevant experience preferred
Applicants must be extremely detail oriented
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related products
Strong writing, analytical and communication skills
Ability to multi-task and be driven by a fast-paced environment
Must be able to meet deadlines
Must be able to work independently but also in a team environment
