Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintain a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago. The Analyst plays an integral role in the MetLife Investment Management Real Estate Debt Strategies Team. This position will assist with key aspects of managing non-affiliate commercial mortgage portfolios with the separate account real estate debt team. The Analyst will work closely with senior management, clients, teams across real estate, finance, and legal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide business management support to MetLife Debt Strategies Investment non-affiliate portfolio managers.
- Contribute to the timely analysis and review of quarterly reports separate accounts.
- Create, update, and manage excel models and reporting to increase efficiency of the review of potential transactions and reporting to third party clients.
- Review and screen transactions for potential non-affiliate participation interest.
- Manage relationship with and provide data for key constituent groups including Portfolio Management Unit, Risk, Research & Analytics, Accounting, Compliance and Client Services Group. Develop relationships with key contacts through both verbal and written communication.
- Ad hoc requests and projects related to the management of the third-party portfolios.
- Maintain and enhance information gathering systems; assist in developing and testing system enhancements; assist regional offices in understanding system processes.
- Quarterly and ad hoc PowerPoint presentations for the portfolio managers, internal and / or third-party investors.
- Gather and maintain competitive intelligence from the market through various resources.
- Assist teams in reviewing new products or funds for the future development of the non-affiliate commercial mortgage platform.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, English, Political Science or Philosophy, as well as any other related field of expertise.
- 0-2 years of experience in an analytical role focused on analyzing and reporting in a commercial real estate related position.
- Excellent PC skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience required.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage several projects concurrently.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work well in a dynamic team environment.
- Ability to create and present power point presentations with the portfolio manager teams .
Preferred:
- Prior finance or real estate related work experience.
