With the planned departure of its long-tenured and well-respected CFO, APMG seeks a dynamic and strategic CFO who can help lead APMG into the future. The Pivotal Role of the CFO
Reporting to the APMG’s President & CEO, the CFO has enterprise-wide responsibility for all financial, accounting and investment functions, serving as a key member of APMG’s executive team and advisor to the President & CEO. They will be a thought leader and activator for APMG’s transformation, ensuring alignment of resources. As a steward for APMG’s financial health, they will oversee one of the largest endowments in public media, as well as ensure full compliance, effective risk management and data-informed decision making. Finally, they will actively contribute to the transformation of APMG’s culture, specifically as it relates to equity, inclusion, diversity and access, to align with the communities APMG serves, and support and strengthen its talented employees.
Enterprise Strategic Leadership
Together with the President & CEO and Executive Team, creates the vision for APMG’s transformation, and leads implementation of enterprise-wide plans and objectives.
Champions financial transparency and data-informed decision-making across the organization, building the organization’s financial acumen and a culture of financial stewardship and accountability.
Proactively works to ensure effective collaboration and communication across divisions and overall alignment with APMG’s strategic objectives.
Oversees all financial functions of AMPG, to include financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting and forecasting, treasury, cash and financing/capital, ensuring enterprise-wide coordination and transparency.
Develops and oversees a budgeting approach that is transparent, collaborative and holistic.
Ensures adequate capital and liquidity to meet current needs, and plans for future needs through sound capital structures and banking/financial relationships.
Provides leadership to financial analysis, due diligence, execution and integration of business development initiatives or potential acquisitions/divestitures.
Ensures that core financial systems and technologies integrate with other relevant systems, provide robust analytics, business intelligence, reporting and help drive data-informed decisions and growth.
Ensures compliance with IRS regulations, investment regulations, GAAP, FAS and all related audit requirements, and accurate and timely external reporting to rating agencies, public funders and other financial institutions.
Staffs the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Audit Committees, ensuring that the board and its committees receive timely, accurate and insightful reports to support their fiduciary responsibilities.
Primary responsibility for supporting the fiduciary oversight of all investments, to include APMG’s endowments and 403(b) plans.
Stays apprised of new developments and opportunities that relate to investment strategies in the field of philanthropy and nonprofits.
Works closely with APMG’s investment consultant to monitor investment performance, ensure compliance with investment guidelines and support relevant board committees.
Represents APMG’s investment program to donors and other key stakeholders.
Demonstrates a personal commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity and access in own relationships, in the workplace, and for all MPR’s and APM’s brands.

Direct reports to the CFO include the Vice President, Finance and Treasury Operations Manager and a total team of 20 +/-. Other critical partners include the leaders of MPR and SCPR, as well as the leads for Strategy, Transformation, Partnerships & Revenue, Philanthropic Development, Marketing & Audience Development, Technology, Human Resources and General Counsel & Corporate Development. The CFO also has regular interaction with APMG’s Board of Trustees and a variety of external partners.
This position is located at APMG’s headquarters in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Experiences, Qualifications & Skills
Prior successes in one or more similarly complex and dynamic organizations, supporting business model transformation, ideally digital transformation.
Track record of advancing enterprise diversity, equity, inclusion and access.
20+ years of progressive responsibility in and prior oversight of the full breadth of financial and accounting functions, including foundational expertise in financial planning and analysis, business intelligence and analytics.
10+ years of successful team leadership and people development experience.
Proven success as a champion for organizational financial transparency, literacy, stewardship and accountability.
Technology savvy with experience assessing, selecting and adopting financial systems.
Proven ability to access and align funding sources in support of organizational objectives.
