Wells Fargo's Institutional Retirement and Trust (IRT) business was purchased by Principal Financial Group (PFG), a provider of retirement, investments, and insurance products and services. The sale was announced in April, 2019, and the transition of in scope team members and clients is expected to be completed by mid-2021. Wells Fargo is committed to supporting the IRT business throughout the transition period and this in scope role will eventually transition over to PFG.
As part of the Mirror Image team, the Operations Accountant 2 will be responsible for replication (mirror imaging) of all activities that occur at brokerage, bank or fund company on to the Wells Fargo trust system; reflecting dividends, interest, capital gains/losses, contributions, returns of capital, etc. Other requirements include the research and resolution of complex issues and trace the flow of funds within a statement, understand how entries reflected on to the trust will impact the end reporting which will be viewable by interested parties. Will need to understand tax cost reporting and ultimately how a tax-lot trust system works. Will need to be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and be able to assist teammates with resolving moderate to complex issues.
JOB DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
Reflecting financial activity and reconciling balances of assets held-outside of the bank
Set up of new assets into the Mirror Image database
Ensuring that the Mirror Image database, spreadsheets and other tracking tools are updated and kept accurate
Verifying the accurate of the Mirror Image status reports
Following up on missing or delayed outside statements
Communicating with EB Accounting and the Customer Service Center Reps concerning problems or concerns for assigned accounts
Balancing cash to $0 on a daily basis
Maintaining and ensuring the organization and completeness of mirror imaged files including keeping accurate and meaningful processing notes for each assigned account.
Providing support for the manager and the rest of the team
Working on special projects for the department as needed
Accurately report cusip prices on a timely basis to the Pricing unit.
Ability to partner with and resolve issues with other internal departments on an as needed basis.
The ability to interpret various alternative asset statements and correspondence and be able to assist in resolving associated issues as they pertain to trust reporting. These assets include but are not limited to Hedge Funds, Fund of Hedge Funds, Private Equity assets, REITs, etc.
2+ years of accounting experience, operational accounting experience, or a combination of both demonstrated through work or military experience
Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills
Exposure to Wells Fargo SEI Trust 3000 Wells Fargo Trust Accounting system of record
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
Ability to exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems
An AA/AS degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
Other Desired Qualifications
Basic understanding of trust accounting and the ability to be able to interpret various alternative asset statements and correspondence and be able to assist in resolving associated issues as they pertain to trust reporting. These assets include but are not limited to Hedge Funds, Fund of Hedge Funds, Private Equity assets, REITs, etc. Hedge Funds, Private Equity assets, REITs, etc.
Ability to assist other team members with moderate to complex issues as they relate to Mirror Imaging and trust accounting
3+ years bookkeeping, accounting, or operational accounting experience
