THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Manager, ERM must have:

• A minimum of 10 years experience working in a business environment with increasing levels of responsibility, at least [5] of which must be in ERM or equivalent. 
• Two years leading smaller team or project team
• Bachelor’s degree
• COSO ERM Certification combined with direct experience applying the COSO ERM standard
• Two years experience with a risk management, Governance Risk and Compliance or related software
• Experience in organizational planning, enterprise risk process and risk programs
• Experience and knowledge of risk and project management methodologies, tools and techniques
• Demonstrated ability to develop trusted collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders
• Demonstrated and superior written and oral communication skills
• Strong knowledge and application of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio

The following qualifications will be highly regarded:

• CPA and or professional audit designation or MBA
• CRM (Canadian Risk Manager Designation)
• CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)
• Strong knowledge and background in the implementation of standards in Center for Internet Security, Basel III, COBIT, COSO internal controls, Certified Fraud Examiners
• Risk management, process, and control assessment, change management expertise obtained in the financial services industry
• Experience with or direct training with Internal Audit
• Information Security standards experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop corporate risk and control self assessments (CRSA), risk appetite and tolerance consistent with the COSO ERM standard
• Facilitate, capture, assess and report on department and project CRSAs
• Develop and maintain enterprise risk taxonomy
• Grow and maintain strong working relationships internally as well as with advisors, subject-matter experts, pension peers, and other external stakeholders
• Develop and implement methods for risk identification and monitoring and communicate risk management strategy throughout the organization
• Coordinate and assist in the development of key risk indicators, including data gathering capabilities and analysis
• Assist Director in the development and roll out the development of risk related policies, procedures, and standards
• Ensure consistent application of non-investment risk management methodologies and tools across BCI
• Responsible for operational loss identification, definition, assessment, analysis, mitigation, and reporting
• Maintain the operational loss database and reporting framework; analyze, report, track and follow up on operational risk losses
• Aggregate and report on operational risk trends
• Support operations with loss reviews and execute value-add control recommendations and follow up
• Work closely with business units, project managers and senior leadership in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks to their objectives
• Align second line of defense functions
• Assists ERM program with Crisis and Business Continuity Management
• Analyse risk mitigation activities of the Legal Department and ERM branch
• Provide risk leadership and support for the BCI Insurance program
