About the Role
The Production Engineering team within WWIT-ISST is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux platform support Engineer to support our server environments. This individual will work in a design, development, and support capacity on highly complex projects using various tools and will also be responsible for supporting current functionality.
The candidate for this position must be able to work effectively with horizontal and vertical teams to analyze, design, and implement related role-based technology solutions. The work environment is fast paced, requiring the candidate to deliver multiple concurrent projects. The position requires the candidate to be highly available to support our environments and teams before, during and sometimes after normal business hours. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter and committed team player with strong verbal and written communication and analytical skills.

7+ years of development / engineering and support on UNIX Platforms (Linux and other flavors)
Demonstrated understanding and experience with very large relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server or Teradata)
Expert level troubleshooting skills
Experience with project estimating
Experience with application capacity planning
Experience solving complex problems by working with internal partners and vendors
Experience working in an 24x7 on-call rotation
Relationship management history with business partners (SMEs, stakeholders, PMs) and technology teams (architects, application developers, SAs)
Create and review reports to analyze problem trends and recommend corrections to resolve them
Experience with BoKS, VAS, HP UX, AIX, RedHat, SSH, SFTP, NAS, and other cross platform applications
Understanding of tools including PAC 2000, Remedy, Triage, OVO, Netcool, Sparc, and Wanda
Possess ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Proven leadership experience leading technical projects and technical team members.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external partners including Distributed Systems, Network, Storage, WWIT-ISST Architecture, etc.
Experience leading the day-to-day technical activities related to maintaining a reliable and effective server environment
Good Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
