ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT , MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo) , to provide leadership and direction for financial underwriting, project programming, management of all phases of design and construction, coordination oversight over the activities of teams of A/E and CM/GC firms during construction, and the timely closeout and turnover of construction and renovation projects with budgets in excess of $5MM. The spectrum of projects includes ground-up construction and significant renovation of a mixture of labs, offices and residences. Will envision, develop, and communicate ways in which project activities can express, support, and help drive the implementation of MIT's strategic plans; oversee and direct management of design and construction projects involving diverse and specialized skills, detailed and potentially complex technical specifications, large capital investments, and long-term impact on the MIT and broader Cambridge community.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : ten years' experience managing the planning, design, permitting, and construction of large-scale capital projects including high-rise office, laboratory, and residential renovation and ground-up developments; bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in real estate, architecture, urban planning, finance, business administration, construction management, or related field; strong working knowledge of relevant Massachusetts' building codes/regulations; service-oriented approach to work; excellent leadership, strategic thinking, interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to set and manage priorities, create clear direction, set expectations, and follow through to ensure achievement and accountability in the face of competing demands; willingness to give and receive positive, constructive feedback; ability to mediate, collaborate, and build effective relationships with staff/administrators/faculty/outside constituents; and understanding of best practices and continuous improvement processes related to capital project delivery/systems.
