A key member of the Treasury team, the Senior Treasury Analyst participates in all treasury activities with an emphasis on the management of City of Hope’s debt portfolio, quantitative analysis and assisting in daily treasury operations, including cash management and investments. The Senior Treasury Analyst participates in bond financing transactions, as needed and requested, and is responsible for all aspects of post-issuance debt administration and compliance, including but not limited to monitoring use of tax-exempt bond proceeds, completing compliance certifications, debt covenant calculations, and meeting continuing disclosure requirements. The Senior Treasury Analyst also assists with cash and investment related activities by contributing to the preparation of cash flow forecasts, new investment and rebalancing documentation, monitoring of charitable remainder trust and gift annuity investment program performance and supporting other investment-related activities, as needed and requested. The Senior Treasury Analyst collaborates with other members of the Treasury department to develop and improve processes consistent with the mission and values of the City of Hope. The Senior Treasury Analyst assists in the management of City of Hope’s relationships with analysts, rating agencies and the investment community.
Key Responsibilities include:
Assist in the development of complex analyses to evaluate debt financing strategies. In connection with bond financing transactions, may be requested, as needed, to participate in preparation of official statement and other disclosure documents, coordination of due diligence, development of materials for rating agencies and investors, and bond closing logistics. As needed, assist with quantitative analysis and complex financial models to inform management on comprehensive debt portfolio, including forecasting projected debt uses, maintaining credit ratings model and evaluating City of Hope’s debt capacity.
Perform lease versus buy analysis in connection with proposed real estate and equipment financing transactions. Assist in the implementation of City of Hope’s equipment leasing policy, including negotiation of lease agreements and management of any mid-term and end of term issues with lessors.
Provide support and analysis regarding all of City of Hope’s corporate borrowings, including coordinating payments for principal, interest and swap settlements and collateral postings. Aid in the negotiation and maintenance of credit facilities, letters of credit, lease transactions and other financing arrangements, including financial and compliance reporting packages.
Prepare bond draw certificates by working with Controller, Fixed Asset Accountants, and bond trustee
Prepare quarterly and annual financial covenant calculations and other covenant reports and certifications as required by Master Trust Indenture, Loan Agreements, Continuing Disclosure Certificates and other bond-related documents, including but not limited to swap, bank loan and line of credit agreements. Stay abreast of public disclosure requirements. Coordinate quarterly disclosure requirements and website postings and ensure timely disclosure of information as part of ongoing investor relations program
Assist in the implementation of post-issuance compliance policy in connection with City of Hope’s tax-exempt debt program, including private use monitoring and reporting
Assist with the preparation of reports and presentation materials for senior management, Board, rating agencies, and other external parties.
Assist with and provide support for monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation, City of Hope annual financial audits and IRS audits as needed
Develop and maintain a comprehensive debt management operations manual, including debt covenant compliance checklist, reporting obligations timetable, and debt program policies (e.g. swap policy, post-issuance compliance policy)
Provide quantitative analysis and financial modeling support for various initiatives and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Cash and Investment Portfolios
Cross train in all areas of treasury and provide coverage as needed. Act as backup to Cash Management Analyst and support to Senior Manager, Cash & Investment Operations.
Contribute to the preparation of cash flow forecasts and develop financial modeling and analytics to enhance functionality.
Prepare treasury reporting package, including reports on debt program, cash and operating reserves, short-term and long-term investment portfolios and credit rating analysis.
Assist with preparation of documentation for implementation of investment recommendations, including but not limited to rebalancing recommendations, new manager funding, terminations of existing managers, asset transfers, capital calls and distributions and investment reallocations and transitions.
Assist with other investment management activities and projects, as needed, including but not limited to monitoring the performance of charitable remainder trust and gift annuity investments.
Provide financial support and reporting or work on additional ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
5 years of experience in corporate treasury or investment banking, specializing in debt financing and program
Advanced Finance coursework
Healthcare/Not-for-Profit Treasury experience
Advanced spreadsheet and modeling skills.
Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences.
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute in a small team environment.
General knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for debt and other financial instruments
Excel including macros, PowerPoint, Word, familiarity with Database software
