The University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) provides investment management services to the University of Virginia and affiliated entities and is responsible for monitoring and evaluating investment strategies for a $8 billion investment portfolio. The Investment Accountant position provides vital information and support for the Operations Team and will report to the Director of Investment Operations. Responsibilities include:
1.Cash management, reconciliations, and maintenance of accounting records 2.Financial, audit, and tax responsibilities 3.General support to accounting operations 4.Ad hoc reporting and special project work
The successful candidate demonstrates thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of investment accounting and/or journal entry experience preferred. Must be detail oriented, have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to manage multiple activities accurately and effectively. Must be highly flexible in a fast-paced environment with evolving reporting requirements and job responsibilities. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to quickly learn new technology. Additionally, the candidate should have: -Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting, business administration, or finance and a minimum of two years related professional work experience (internships included) -Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (required), experience with accounting software (preferred) -CPA designation or progress towards preferred; master's degree may substitute
