Role Summary: The role of the Investments Product Data Steward is to is to own business decisions on the life cycle of Mutual Fund Product data and to promote and maintain the 'source of truth' for all valid uses. The scope of decisions include data definitions, appropriate uses, policies, procedures, controls, business rules, metrics/KPI's, access rights, and appropriate security measures. The Data Steward manages a change process, fielding requests from stakeholders, assessing impact, and managing a process of implementation working closely with Business and Technology leaders. The Investment Product Data Steward will work to optimize data flows and usage for Investments Mutual Fund Product data, and acts as a member in a community of stewards across all lines of business, helping to adopt standards and mature the discipline of data management at New York Life.

Understands the business strategy and objectives, translate into Mutual Fund Product data requirements (transactional, analytical, regulatory, security) and data quality goals
Define policy, process, controls, metrics/KPI's to meet business objectives
Assess and communicate change impacts to all relevant processes and organization
Monitor, measure and report on data quality and SLA performance
Provide thought leadership on Data Management
Required - Bachelor's degree; equivalent work experience accepted
Preferred - M.B.A. or Master's in Management or Technology; equivalent work experience accepted
7-10+ years of relevant experience in information management
Demonstrated leadership governing/stewarding data and developing information management standards
Experience organizing and influencing across lines of business and functional areas
Demonstrated experiences and best practice expertise in information management strategy, methodologies, tools and techniques with special emphasis on information management policy, taxonomies and business glossaries, data stewardship, data quality, and master data management services design and implementation
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, build relationships, mentor and influence a community of data professionals across lines of business and functional areas
Strong written, verbal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work with all levels within the organization as well as external partners
Experience in business process design and data standards development
Experience in managing structured and unstructured information
Experience in leading large scale change and managing transitions
Subject matter expertise in Mutual Fund Product data
Awareness of relevant and emerging financial services / insurance data standards
Familiarity with IT functions and services
Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills; accuracy and attention to details
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple simultaneous priorities
Demonstrated ability to think end-to-end, connect moving parts, and anticipate and manage change impacts
Ability to define and leverage metrics to drive performance and outcomes
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with visualization tools like Spotfire is desirable.
Possesses a deep understanding of current and future information management technologies and applications
