This is a “roll up your sleeves” position that supervises the 8-10 person accounting and payroll staff and directs the accounting and financial activities of the organization. Oversees and participates in the timely preparation of numerous monthly financial statements for Cypress and its clients. Oversees, directs and actively participates in treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate and insurance activities for the organization and its clients.
Develops and implements procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services. Documents departmental policies, procedures and workflows. Prepares professional-grade reports that summarize, benchmark and forecast company and client business activities and financial positions in areas of income, expenses, earnings and RCM based on past, present and expected operations. Directs and actively participates in the preparation of budgets. Oversees audits by outside auditors. Attends meetings with clients and senior management/executives.
Additional Job Duties:
Directs and participates in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems.
Coordinates Cypress’s and its clients’ banking, cash and investment management activities.
Provides advice and assistance to executives, senior managers and clinic managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments.
Ensures that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed, in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects.
Works closely with Revenue Cycle Management to optimize billing, collection and cash flow. Ensures integrity of accounts receivable reporting.
Ensures that a time schedule is established for the preparation of monthly financial statements; actively participates in the preparation of financial statements; implements corrective action as necessary to meet established deadlines.
Principal administrator for 401(k) plan.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or comparable field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
At least 5 years’ experience in the senior-most accounting position with a healthcare system or physician group with at least 20 physicians. Experience with multispecialty physicians/groups preferred.
Experience with physician compensation formulas and methods, particularly use of wRVUs.
Proficiency with software tools (e.g. SQL, Access, Excel, ADP, Sage or comparable accounting systems, Concur for expense report and A/P management).
Highly developed organizational skills.
Superior HR and interpersonal skills. Works well with organization’s other interrelated departments, like RCM, Credentialing/Contracting, HR, Decision Support/Analytics, and Operations.
Superior project management skills.
Membership in MGMA, HFMA and/or AMGA preferred.
