Responsible for directing the accounting function within the Finance Division. Develop and implement financial strategies that achieve the ASA mission, values, goals, and strategic plan. Direct the fiscal functions of ASA and related entities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Implement and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance, while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Ensure the performance and achievement of short and long-range goals for the Finance Division. Coach and advise management staff on all financial matters. Ensure that all Finance Division plans are integrated into the ASA yearly operational plan and adhere to line-item budget responsibility. Adhere to the investment and fiscal policies set by the ASA and Foundations.
Direct all financial management operations ensuring accounting is performed in accordance with GAAP across all entities. Oversee general accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll and benefit accounting. Provide technical accounting guidance when needed to staff, such as consolidations and fund accounting. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions across all entities, including IRS reporting, FEC filing, Audits and Federal grant reporting.
In consultation with external investment advisors, Treasurer and SFA, provide prudent investment management of ASA investment portfolio.
Optimize the handling of commercial banking relationships and activities to ensure ASA and all entities receive the use of products and services to enhance operations and manage cash flows. Act as liaison with commercial bankers regarding management of ASA and all entities accounts.
Act as ASA risk management SME regarding risk assessments, risk coverage and insurance renewals ensuring ASA is properly covered.
Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Enhance internal control systems to safeguard company’s assets and streamline operations. Analyze operational and financial performance at macro and micro levels and help develop plans to anticipate and address deviations and areas for improvements.
Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years in progressively higher-level financial positions in companies and/or associations.
Minimum 3 years of senior managerial or director experience in a related function.
Demonstrated experience in management of finance, accounting, budgeting, and internal controls and reporting.
Skill in examining, developing, reengineering and recommending financial policies and procedures.
