What is the Franklin Templeton Multi-Asset Solutions (FTMAS) group responsible for?
The team builds and manages multi-asset portfolio solutions, combining a top-down and bottom-up approach in order to deliver diversified, actively managed investment strategies. As Portfolio Manager you are responsible for managing designated portfolios, and communicating the investment team’s investment philosophy, process and current strategy. This includes asset allocation and strategic position of the portfolios, while delivering superior investment performance.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Portfolio Manager?
Manage assigned multi-asset portfolios for institutional clients according to stated investment objectives and client preferences
Maintain fluency in portfolio construction process
Conduct on-going research on global capital markets, provide recommendations based on this research as an input into the FTMAS Investment Strategy and Research Committee
Act as principal spokesperson for the team’s investment philosophy, process and strategy in support of winning new portfolio mandates, and additionally the retail and institutional mandates in the US
Act as conduit between the investment team and distribution channels within US Advisory Services to support client retention efforts and to meet with key decision makers at existing clients to provide periodic portfolio reviews and updates
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
This Position Requires:
This is a senior VP level portfolio manager position and requires a minimum of 10+ years’ experience as a Portfolio Manager constructing multi-asset style/asset allocation portfolios for large size funds/portfolios for institutional, pension, foundation, endowments or similar style mutual funds
Experience constructing multi-asset/asset allocation portfolios using individual securities and direct investments
Bachelor's degree required with an MBA, CFA or advanced degree
Experience and familiarity with the latest risk management and multi-asset portfolio construction tools and methodologies
Ability and confidence to engage at high levels of discussion on asset allocation and portfolio strategy
Knowledge and experience in traditional asset classes, with a good working knowledge of alternative asset classes
Knowledge of global capital markets
Ability to conduct fundamental research while contributing to the investment decision making process
Skilled in verbally articulating all facets of the investment process and strategy
Ability to conceptualize external feedback and industry trends into the investment team’s process
Effective relationship management skills and demonstrated credibility with investment team and distribution teams
Deliver presentations on complex financial and economic topics to a broad audience
Support business development and client retention efforts
Ability to work autonomously and make unsupervised decision as required
Willingness to travel as needed - up to 40% of the time
