Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 42, Salary DOE&Q University of Tennessee Investment Office: Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Investment Office is part of the Office of the Treasurer and oversees the majority of the assets invested for the benefit of the University of Tennessee. This capital base of roughly $2.3 billion includes the Operating Cash Fund of $1.3 billion and the Consolidated Investment Pool (the "Endowment") of $900 million. The Endowment's assets include public equity and debt, hedge funds, private equity and debt, venture capital, real estate, natural resources, credit instruments and strategies, and derivatives. Position Overview: The Endowment Investment Analyst will be a key member of a small team responsible for the day-to-day management of these assets and cover all aspects of the investment function. The role will require regular interaction with numerous top-tier investment firms, consultancies, and colleagues and provide the successful candidate with broad, intensive experience in investment management and operations. Most importantly, this person will assist senior University personnel, as well as Board and Investment Committee members, with significant investment decisions and help lay the foundation for future growth of the Investment Office. Position responsibilities include the following: · Assist in due diligence and monitoring of investment managers and individual securities. · Track, review, and analyze the performance of various holdings. · Assist with portfolio management operations and analysis. · Engage in detailed asset class/market research and create reports and commentaries. · Help build out current analytics and research-related systems. · Create/maintain reporting materials for various constituencies. · Field inquiries and requests from a variety of high-level third-parties. · Assist in maintaining the software/databases required for research and portfolio management. · Complete special projects as directed by senior personnel. · Source and track opportunities in the markets or with new managers/funds.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements: · Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record. · Foundational knowledge of investments and capital markets. · Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including grammatical proficiency. · Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. · Ability to travel on a moderate to regular basis. · Motivated self-starter with ability to manage work priorities independently and hit deadlines. · Highly detail oriented with natural organizational abilities. · Team oriented and comfortable in a professional services environment. Desirable Qualifications: · Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, math, or engineering disciplines. · Two+ years of experience in analyzing investments, managers, and/or financial information. · Prior investment experience with a fund-of-funds, consultant, endowment or family office. · Knowledge of financial controls, investment accounting, and investment systems. · Progress toward/designation of CFA charterholder or CAIA. · Demonstrated passion for investing and research. · Experience preparing reports/presentations for senior personnel and third parties. · Ability to communicate complex financial concepts both orally and in writing. · Deep experience with Microsoft Excel, including statistical and Monte Carlo analysis. · Strong drive to learn and willingness to put in extra time to grow skills/knowledge. · Familiarity with Bloomberg systems, including Bloomberg's Excel add-in.
