Description The Investment Analyst is an integral part of a small team investing a substantial portion of Vanderbilt University's over $4 billion endowment with a focus on global equity, hedge funds, commodities, fixed income, private equity, venture capital, natural resources, and real estate opportunities. Our office consists of two investment teams: Public Markets and Private Markets. The public investment team invests globally and oversees passive direct investments. The private investment team invests in global private equity funds in addition to direct co-investments. Our team currently has two investment analyst opportunities available for our three-year program, beginning in the summer of 2018. The application deadline is October 1, 2017. We will begin reviewing resumes and selecting candidates for interviews in early October. After concluding the three-year commitment with our investment office, analysts often have numerous career avenues including graduate business school, transitioning to buy side investment firms including hedge funds or private equity firms, or continuing their careers in asset management. Key Functions and Expected Performances: Assist in researching and analyzing existing and prospective investment opportunities, including with leading managers and direct investments and co-investments. Prepare written and analytic materials that present and support investment recommendations and actions. Participate in meetings with existing and prospective investment managers. Monitor prospective and existing investments by analyzing data, research, and attending meetings with global money managers. Monitor, update, and create reports on investment performance, exposures, holdings and other key portfolio analytic data items. Assist with and participate in regular reviews of the portfolio, including analysis of the portfolio's performance and risk characteristics. Maintain database integrity, organization, and data content. Ensure timely updates of key data items in central database and risk monitoring system. Maintain qualitative and quantitative manager information within proprietary database for existing and prospective managers. Maintain knowledge of the appropriate markets for the either public or private portfolios. Provide core support to investment team members on various projects. Conduct ad hoc projects (e.g., research on specific countries or sectors) as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Our program is designed for soon-to-be graduates seeking an entry-level position.
