Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan seeks an accomplished and strategic leader to serve as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Aquinas College President, the VP and CFO is responsible for providing dynamic leadership for accounting, finance, business administration, information technology services (ITS), human resources, physical plant, and outsourced functions such as dining services, and bookstore. This role is designed to bring strategic guidance and leadership to the operational functions that are essential in supporting students, faculty, and staff.
As a member of the President’s Cabinet and strategic advisor to the President and the Aquinas College Board of Trustees, the VP and CFO assists the President and the Board in overseeing the college’s annual operating budget of $31 million. The VP and CFO is responsible for the oversight of college departments including approximately 50 full-time employees.
The successful candidate will have:
Master’s degree in accounting, finance or other related discipline
At least seven years of successful leadership and financial management experience in a senior administrative capacity, with experience working in higher education preferred.
Experience creating and implementing strategic plans,
Experience preparing for and evaluating enterprise financial audits
Experienced with banking, debt and investment management processes.
Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and a CPA designation is preferred.
Experience leading business operations functions such as ITS, human resources, and physical plant.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to be a collaborative member of various teams that are formed for a wide variety of projects.
The ability to communicate and work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, peers and the wider College community
